In highly abrasive mining environments, we recommend specifying 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel for the gate material. While standard SS304 is sufficient for water treatment, the high chloride and solid content in mining slurries require the superior pitting resistance of Duplex to prevent premature gate failure.
